Antidiabetic (Oral Antidiabetics)
An Antidiabetic (plural Antidiabetic) is a drug for the treatment of diabetes mellitus.
These include both tablets – Oral Antidiabetic agents – as well as various insulin preparations.
There are several groups with different oral Antidiabetic active.
Acarbose
Acarbose delays the glucose uptake from the intestine into the blood and helps, especially after carbohydrate meals the blood sugar low to keep.
Sulfonylurea
Sulfonylurea drugs, which stimulate and increase insulin secretion. Because of insulin resistance are thus often causes excessive insulin level.
