Large Fat Cells Mean Increased Risk Of Diabetes

diabetes1Women with large fat cells have a markedly increased risk of diabetes. This has now revealed a longitudinal study from Sweden. The experts at Malin Lönn of Gothenburg University have studied the health records of 1 302 women who had participated since the 1970s in the study.

For women, in addition to body size and waist circumference was determined at 245 participants are also samples of subcutaneous fat from the abdomen and the thighs were removed.

The doctors have put their focus on 36 women from this group, because with them until the year 2001, a Type-2 diabetes has emerged. According to the trade magazine “FASEB Journal” has been found that is higher in large fat cells, the risk of diabetes by about 90 percent less than in small fat cells.
